Ep 73: Orfeo Angelucci - Secret of the Saucers

Orfeo Angelucci

Family man, aerospace worker and "Contactee," nicknamed "Orfie" by his wife Mabel, and "Angie" by his coworkers."  Orfeo claimed to have been contacted by a race of friendly ethereal beings.  The male he called "Neptune" but whose real name was "Astra."  The female was named "Lyra." They charged Orfeo with the task of telling the world about them, the history and mission of the human race, and that we'd better get our act together, or else. 

The Glendale-Hyperion Bridge, Atwater Village, CA

The Glendale-Hyperion Bridge is an arch bridge viaduct located in Atwater Village, CA, connecting the Los Angeles suburbs of Los Feliz/Silverlake and Glendale.  Located near Orfeo Angelucci's home, he claimed that down below the bridge and on the river bank was where he had one of his profound conversations with an "Ultraterrestrial."  Construction on the present bridge began on 27 March 1927, after the original wood bridge built in 1910 collapsed after a flood.  Construction on the concrete bridge was completed in February 1929 and spans the Atwater section of the Los Angeles River and Interstate 5 Golden State Freeway at a length of 400 feet.  Many tourists may know it from seeing its small-scale replica at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California.

Bob's Big Boy in Burbank is the start of many a great adventure.  Here we see Scott & Forrest meet up with screenwriter Rich Hatem before setting off to trace the route Orfeo Angelucci took on his way home from work at Lockheed Aerospace, and his first otherworldly encounter.

Getting very close to where Orfeo described pulling his car over to the side of the road one evening, and experiencing his first Contact from Neptune and Lyra, via telecommunicating disks or saucers.

The Investigative Team finds a piece of metallic "evidence."

...which turned out to be a piece of padlock –but which had been mysteriously cut.  Rich, for some unknown reason, is pointing towards the sky.

Could this cut-through piece of padlock be a clue as to the truth of Angelucci's story?  Probably not!

Rich asks which one of us is buying him lunch.

This location is perhaps very close to where the old Los Feliz Drive-in Theater once stood.

An office building is here now, but this address appears to be where the Angelucci's apartment building used to be, or at least one location where they lived after Orfeo's contact and efforts to spread the word were in full swing.

Not much to look at now, but this was the former site of the Lockheed plant where Orfeo would've worked.  The buildings have been torn down, and the area is not just part of the Burbank airport.

Rich explains that since WE were the ones to invite him to take us on this journey to re-trace Orfeo's encounter route, and HE's our guest, WE'RE the ones who should be buying him lunch.

Location: Approximate spot down by the Los Angeles River, where Orfeo Angelucci would have a converstaion with a brotherly extraterrestrial who would later reveal the secret of our planet and what Orfeo and the rest of us must do to ensure a peaceful fate.

Background:

Most of us go on about our lives, enjoying the predictable routine of family, work, and if we're lucky, a little bit of leisure.  Usually, nothing too out of the ordinary happens from day to day, and although it may seem dull, we forget it's also comforting.  But if you're Orfeo Angelucci – aerospace worker, family man, thoughtful but average citizen, one day you get contacted by a race of advanced, extraterrestrial beings that reveal to you the secret of the universe, your purpose here, and the task ahead that would change his life forever.  This was the incredible claim in Angelucci's book, The Secret of the Saucers, which tells the story of his contact with a pair of kind, ethereal entities, who want him to share their message of peace and love for the human race.  But these warm greetings came with a warning: that we must change our harmful ways or else suffer the fate of the world that came before us.  Spreading this message caused no small amount of ridicule and hardship for Orfeo and his family, but as the legends tell us, being a messenger to the world can be a blessing but also a curse and the challenge requires courage.
